My Promises to My Customers
I want you to have a great experience when I build or repair something for you. That's why I'm willing to make promises. If at any time you feel unhappy about any aspect of the work I do for you, please, tell me. I will knock myself out to make it right.

I will be honest about my abilities.
I will accurately convey the extent of my carpentry and home repair expertise and abilities. (For example, I'm an expert at roof work, but I no longer do it.) If I can't help you, I'll do my best to suggest where you may find the right person for the job. I will diagnose the cause of any home damage. I'm trained in the science of building and woodwork. I will get to the bottom of whatever caused that leaking, rotting, weakening, breakage, or other compromise to your home so I can fix it for good. I will never do cosmetic fixes that simply disguise the problem. I will provide you with multiple options. Whenever possible, I will tell you about every option I know of to repair your home damage or build your custom project. That includes explaining the pluses and minuses of each so you can make an informed decision about how to proceed. I will estimate to the best of my ability. Once I know what you need or want, I will give you the most accurate time and cost estimates I possibly can. In the case of repairs, if I discover a deeper underlying issue along the way, as sometimes happens when I take things apart, I will call your attention to it immediately. I'll show you the problem, explain the likely consequences of not taking care of it, discuss the options, and adjust my earlier estimate accordingly. I will explain what I am doing and why. I will keep you informed of what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. It's important to me that you understand the challenges involved, the strategy I develop, and the skills or creativity involved in executing that strategy. I want you to know what you're paying for; and to be honest, I really appreciate your appreciating me. I will show up on time. I will consistently arrive on the job as scheduled. In the rare case that an unavoidable problem or crisis arises, I'll get in touch with you immediately and reschedule to your convenience. I will work efficiently. I will always remain focused on your job or project while I'm working on it. I will never make or take unnecessary phone calls, wander off the job, bundle trips to the hardware store with those for other customers, or "work through" excessive fatigue. I will charge fairly. I will always keep accurate records of the time I spend on your job or project. I will never pad my hours or charge for any activity on my part that is not essential to completing my work for you. I will clean up after myself. Whether it's packaging, sawdust, stray nails, damaged drywall, wet brushes or empty paint cans, I will always clean up after myself and dispose of refuse for you, even if it requires a trip to the local dump. I will leave you smiling when I'm done. In my professional life, nothing means more to me than a completely satisfied customer. I'll always try my best to exceed your expectations, and I won't consider a job finished until you're happy with it. |
